There are a few ways to reach the Sveti Naum Monastery. In summer, you can enjoy a scenic boat ride from Ohrid. Journeying across the lake, this trip takes 90 minutes and costs just 10 Euros. It's a pleasant trip with an English commentary. Alternatively, there is a local bus that runs every 2-3 hours from the town. Taxis are also available throughout the day.

When it's time for lunch, there are a number of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Located close to the springs, Restaurant Ostrovo is a popular place to go for fresh fish dishes. With a fabulous lakeside location, Restaurant Drim by Cuba Libre is also a popular choice amongst locals and tourists. Fill up on traditional Macedonian comfort food before taking the boat back to Ohrid. 

The best way to experience the springs is by boat. These waters are so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom. Just minutes from the monastery, the springs are an excellent side trip for all the family. Rowing boats are available to hire with a guide. They are priced per boat so it's cheaper to join a group. 

When you set foot off the boat, you will be greeted by the monastery's impressive architectural designs. Built in 905, you will learn all about Saint Naum and his monastery. Discover the tomb of Saint Naum or relax in the beautifully landscaped gardens overlooking the lake. There is also a crystal clear spring nearby. 

After exploring the historic Sveti Naum monastery, spend the rest of the afternoon at the beach. Just a short walk from the iconic monastery you will find a wonderful beach area lined with sun loungers. Take a dip in the lake or enjoy a family picnic on the shaded grass area. If you have enough time, take to the water on a memorable kayaking adventure.
